The Transformative Benefits of Floatation Therapy
Few experiences rival the deep meditation and relaxation that comes from stepping into a FLOAT session, also known as floatation therapy.
This practice goes by many names—sensory deprivation, Floatation Meditation™, floatation therapy, float tank, or isolation tank. While the terminology may differ, the profound effects remain the same: an unparalleled sense of calm, mental clarity, and physical renewal.
Floatation therapy creates a unique, weightless environment that encourages deep relaxation and unlocks a range of physical and mental benefits.
By immersing yourself in a float tank—a soundproof, lightproof chamber filled with skin-temperature water and saturated with Epsom salts—you enter a zero-gravity state, free from external distractions.
The result? A powerful reset for both mind and body.
The Benefits of Floatation Therapy
Physical Benefits
Pain Relief
Float therapy has been shown to alleviate chronic pain conditions, including back and neck pain, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. The buoyant environment removes pressure from joints and muscles, promoting deep relaxation and faster healing.
Muscle Recovery & Magnesium Absorption
Athletes and active individuals benefit from the increased circulation and reduced muscle tension experienced during floating. The high concentration of Epsom salts—rich in magnesium—supports muscle recovery, aids in lymphatic drainage, and replenishes magnesium levels, which are crucial for muscle function and overall well-being.
Migraine Reduction
Research suggests that regular floatation therapy may reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines, likely due to its ability to lower stress and promote nervous system relaxation.
Mental & Emotional Benefits
Stress & Anxiety Reduction
Floatation therapy is a powerful tool for stress relief. By minimizing external stimuli, it significantly lowers cortisol levels (the body's primary stress hormone). This helps alleviate anxiety and tension.
Improved Sleep Quality
Many floaters experience better sleep patterns, with some even drifting off during their session (yes, it’s completely safe!). The deep relaxation achieved in the float tank can help regulate sleep cycles and combat insomnia.
Enhanced Creativity & Mental Clarity
By quieting external distractions, floatation therapy allows the mind to enter a deeply meditative state. This has been linked to improved problem-solving, increased creativity, and heightened self-awareness.
Our floatation tanks are larger than most. At 88” long, you can easily stretch your legs and move freely.
How Floatation Therapy Works
At IntoMeSea, our step-in float rooms are designed for ultimate comfort and relaxation. Each spacious chamber is 88 inches long, allowing you to stretch and move freely. To create the perfect floating environment, we use approximately 1,200 pounds of Epsom salt dissolved in 175-180 gallons of water, ensuring effortless buoyancy.
The water is maintained at 94-95°F, matching the surface temperature of your skin. This subtle warmth helps eliminate the sensation of where your body ends and the water begins, deepening the meditative experience.
Once inside, external distractions fade away. You have the option to customize your session with a starry ceiling, soft ambient lighting, or calming soundscapes, making the experience as immersive or minimal as you prefer.
