Discover Floatation Meditation™

Drop down into a restful and regenerative space and float your way to peace.

Flotation Meditation™ enables deep relaxation and stress relief, which can help reduce anxiety, improve sleep and enhance creativity.

Float therapy is a unique modality that reduces external stimulation in order to cultivate a deep sense of calm.

If you’ve heard of “sensory deprivation tanks,” we gently encourage you to forget what you know. At IntoMeSea, we encourage you to R.E.S.T.

In the average human day, 90% of the data our brain receives comes via light, sound, and touch. With Floatation Meditation™ at IntoMeSea, we help you enter a state of R.E.S.T. (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) in our float rooms.

We reduce sensory input to the nervous system by minimizing visual and auditory stimuli, and dialing down the input on the visual, auditory and proprioceptor cortices of the brain. When this happens, it activates Theta and Delta brainwaves, allowing your brain and body to heal on a deep cellular level.

Soaking in Epsom salt rich water (without the stimulation from a busy world) is a natural tool for managing, balancing and improving the function of your body, mind, and soul.

While Floatation Meditation™ is not a cure-all for every ailment or a replacement for sound medical care, soaking in high levels of magnesium sulfate is a natural, safe, three-fold recipe for stellar health.

Benefits of float therapy include:

  • Profound states of relaxation and stress reduction

  • Muscle recovery

  • Ability to enhance focus and mental clarity

  • Entering deep dream states

  • Removing creative block expanding artistic vision

  • Deep relief to insomnia and jet lag

No matter what plane you are sea-king to improve, IntoMeSea’s Floatation Meditation™ experience will support your creative, holistic and healthy life.

Float Therapy at IntoMeSea

IntoMeSea’s luxurious approach to float therapy, Epsom Floatation Meditation™, is thoughtfully designed to create the optimal experience for you to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with your inner self.

Spacious Floatation Chamber

Our serene, step-in float rooms are 88”, allowing you to stretch your body and move freely. The floatation chamber is designed to block out external stimuli, allowing you to float effortlessly in a solution of Epsom salt and water.

Ambient Light & Sound

If it makes you more comfortable, you can choose to float with a starry ceiling, glowing room light and/or ambient sound.

True Flotation

We use approximately 1200 pounds of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate) in roughly 175-180 gallons of water, creating positive buoyancy. The chamber provides a zero-gravity environment that promotes physical and mental relaxation.

Comfortable Temperatures

The water is kept at 94-95 degrees Fahrenheit, the same as the surface temperature of skin.

In-Room Amenities

Each of IntoMeSea’s float suites include either a wet steam chamber with aromatherapy or infrared sauna to enhance your experience before you float.

For First-Time Floaters

Please arrive 15 minutes early.

How to maximize your float session

Float therapy is powerful on its own. However, its benefits become even more significant when experienced in combination with other supportive services, including contrast therapy and hypnagogic light therapy.

Emerging research indicates that combining float therapy with cold plunge and infrared sauna can reduce anxiety and depression.

FAQs about Epsom Floatation Meditation™

What is float therapy?

Floating is the practice of suspending oneself in 10 to 12 inches of mineral rich water in order to obtain benefits for mind, body and soul.  Many people float without lights or sound to decrease stimulation.  IntoMeSea also offers ambient light and sound choices should you choose.  We provide a unique experience for every floater.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

We provide all the amenities you need in your own private suite: towels, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryers.  You may want to bring a hairbrush or comb.

Why do I shower before and after floating?

Showering before (please shampoo your hair but NO conditioner) removes any oils, scent, deodorant, etc., so that the water remains in pristine balance when you enter.  Showering afterwards (now you can shampoo & condition!) removes all the minerals from your hair, skin, ears, nose, etc.

What do I wear to float?

The float suites are private and most people float naked.  However, if you feel more comfortable in a bathing suit, then that works, too.

Is it safe to float while pregnant?

Yes, moms-to-be in their 2nd and 3rd trimester enjoy floatation meditation and have even reported that they have heard baby’s heartbeat while in the water.  The buoyant environment gives a needed respite from added weight, floating promotes deep sleep and the Epsom salt is a natural anti-inflammatory.  Be sure to check with your OBGYN, as every mom is unique.

Are there any hard and fast rules?

  • Please, no bodily fluids inside the tanks.

  • IntoMeSea honors a no drug/no alcohol policy.  We suggest you give yourself the gift of freeing your mind naturally and save the accouterments for after you leave the building.

  • Please do not have any skin or hair products on prior to your float.

  • Ladies in the process of a heavy menstruation cycle should refrain from floating.  Please call to reschedule.

  • You cannot float if you have applied artificial tanner in the last 72 hours or have had a keratin hair treatment performed.

Do you provide goggles?

No, there is no reason to use goggles as you should not be submerging your head underwater.

What if I get water in my eyes?

We have placed a small spray bottle and a towel inside the float suite that you can use to rinse them out.  Remember not to touch your face!

Can I float in the same tank with my partner?

Tanks are meant to hold one person at a time.

What if I am claustrophobic?

You are welcome to leave the suite door ajar and we have installed an “escape button” that when pushed will alert a float tech that you are in need of help!

Is it safe to fall asleep while I am floating?

Yes.  Most people do fall asleep!

I’m not the best swimmer, is it safe for me to float?

Absolutely.  It’s only 10 – 12 inches - just lay back and relax.

Won’t I get cold if I float for an hour?

No.  The tanks are built with in-line heating to ensure the water stays warm throughout the duration of your float.

Are your float suites private?

Yes.  Each room has it’s own shower, changing area, steam room and float suite within allowing for maximum privacy.

What else do I need to know before my appointment?

  • Come hydrated and open to a new experience.

  • Avoid caffeinated beverages 6 hours before you float.

  • Floating provides the most benefits when your stomach is only partially full, so nothing more than a light snack at least 30 minutes before is best.

  • You can shave a minimum of 6 to 8 hours before you float.

  • Wait a minimum of 2 weeks for tattoos and 4 to 6 weeks for piercings.

  • Use the petroleum provided to cover any cuts or scrapes.

  • Contact lens wearers should be prepared to remove their lenses – please bring your own case - we have extra solution.

  • Remove your jewelry as the high mineral content in our water could possibly discolor or damage it.

  • Wait a minimum of 10 days after coloring hair.

What is your cancellation policy?

IntoMeSea has a 24-hour cancellation policy, however because we understand that emergencies do arise, we offer our patrons a “one-off pass” per person.  After this, you will be charged the full session fee for a missed appointment.

How to Float at IntoMeSea

  1. Arrive 15 minutes early to check-in & take a tour of IntoMeSea.

  2. Drink a little water, visit the restroom & get ready to leave the world behind – you’re about to experience Floatation Meditation.

  3. Remove your clothes, put in your earplugs and lather up with soap & water – especially your hair – rinsing thoroughly.  Use conditioner ONLY AFTER floating!

  4. Step into the water slowly, close the door and lay back… you’ll float effortlessly. The starlight ceiling will turn off when your float officially begins.

  5.  Enjoy the peace & quiet or leave the music & lights on… it’s your float so do your own thing. Drift away, relax & feel the Theta waves.

  6. Tilting your head back a little keeps the water out of your eyes. If you do get water in your eyes, don’t touch with your hands! Use the bottle of water & the clean towel hanging close by to rinse.

  7. The celestial ceiling lights will turn back on when your float is done. Take a few deep breaths to get present and exit the tank mindfully.

  8. Wash your body & hair thoroughly - it’s ok to use conditioner now! If you need more time to primp, feel free to use the locker room.

  9. Hang out in our post float lounge before you reenter the world. Kick-back with a cup of tea on a moon pod & energize yourself in front of our giant quartz crystal. We’re grateful you chose to get tranquil with us. Much aloha.
