Why You Should Make Infrared Sauna Part of Your Weekly Routine

Many know the benefits of an infrared sauna. There’s pain relief, muscle relaxation and an overall sense of ease that comes from being cocooned inside a warm space.

But, did you know the benefits that can happen when you make infrared sauna part of your ongoing weekly routine?

Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared saunas use infrared light to warm your body from the inside out. This innovative approach allows for a deeper, more efficient detox while remaining comfortable and accessible for those sensitive to high temperatures.

Why Make Infrared Sauna a Weekly Ritual?

1. Deep Detoxification for Ongoing Wellness

Incorporating infrared sauna sessions into your routine promotes consistent detoxification. Infrared light penetrates the skin and heats the body at a cellular level, promoting sweat that flushes out toxins like heavy metals and impurities. Regular use supports lymphatic drainage, clearer skin, and a balanced internal system—keeping you feeling rejuvenated week after week. So, whether you’re looking to detox after a big week of travel (or couple drinks on a Saturday night!), a sauna can be the perfect remedy for getting rid of any negative toxins in your body.

2. Relief from Pain and Inflammation

Infrared saunas can help reduce inflammation and soothe sore muscles. This can provide massive benefits whether you’re recovering from a workout or managing chronic discomfort. The infrared light increases blood flow to joints and tissues, speeding up recovery and providing consistent pain relief. Making this part of your weekly routine can help you stay active and pain-free so you can keep up with your wellness regimen.

3. A Stress Relief Practice You’ll Look Forward To

Regular self-care is essential for mental well-being, and infrared sauna sessions are the perfect way to unwind. The gentle, penetrating warmth helps your body release endorphins, reduce muscle tension, and create a deep sense of calm. Adding this to your weekly routine is a great way to maintain mental clarity and relaxation. Plus, it can lead to a great night’s sleep!

4. Brain Benefits

Studies have shown that regular exposure to saunas can reduce the risk of neurodegenerative disease, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. It’s also been proven that saunas can improve cognitive function, alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, and promote brain plasticity.

Sweat away toxins and rejuvenate your body in our cutting-edge infrared sauna at IntoMeSea.

Infrared vs. Traditional: What’s the Difference?

Traditional saunas heat the air to warm the body (often reaching temperatures of 150-195°F), while infrared saunas use infrared light to heat the body directly at lower temperatures (120-150°F). This makes infrared saunas more comfortable for longer, more frequent sessions while still offering robust detox and healing benefits.

While you’re in an infrared sauna, you may feel as though you are sweating less than you would in a traditional sauna. Rest assured that this is normal! You are still receiving all of the wonderful benefits of the sauna — just at a more gentle penetration!

What to Expect During Your Session

At IntoMeSea, we offer both 30-minute and 60-minute infrared sauna sessions to fit your schedule and wellness goals. You can expect a calm, enveloping warmth that allows for deep relaxation while encouraging a sweat that detoxifies the body. Emitting near, mid, and far infrared waves, our saunas allow the warmth to sink into muscles and tissues, promoting profound detoxification and rejuvenation at 150° F.

You can enter the sauna in one of our IntoMeSea robes or swimsuits. Make sure to hydrate well before and after your session. For some extra hydration, we recommend adding a HeyFreya Quench pouch into your water (sold at the front desk!). These little packets include magnesium for further muscle and nerve relaxation, plus they’re packed with Vitamin C.

We also have sauna caps and dry brushes available at the front desk if you’re looking to level up your experience. Sauna caps are meant to protect your head from overheating, which means you can stay in the sauna longer! Dry brushes, meanwhile, are a great self-care step to add before the sauna. Dry brushing removes dead skin cells from the body and unclogs your pores — this enhances the detoxification you get in the sauna.

And if you really want to take things up a notch, we encourage you to try our contrast therapy treatment, Fire + Ice! This combines a cold plunge with your infrared sauna session. Consider it the perfect reset.
